New Skate Park Opens in Kennesaw

skate park in Kennesaw GAKennesaw real estate is in high demand by families looking to buy a home in north Atlanta, and for good reason. This Cobb County city is loved by residents for its convenient location, historic attractions, and tight-knit community, but now the city has added yet another reason to buy a home in Kennesaw- a state-of-the-art skate park!

Kennesaw’s Swift-Cantrell Park was already a vibrant community gathering space, with 42-acres of walking and bike trails, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, a dog park, and sports fields. With the addition of a brand new skate park, residents have gotten their wish for a safe, fun place for their kids and teens to practice their skateboarding moves.

The story of the Kennesaw skate park is a testament to this metro Atlanta town’s community spirit. The park was funded through 2011 SPLOST funds and private donations, not to mention the hard work of local volunteers and local government workers. Working with a community-formed skate park committee, Kennesaw’s parks and recreation department worked tirelessly to bring the park to life. City workers even built the park’s bathroom and installed plumbing in order to cut costs.

The just-opened park features 30,000 square feet of skatable area, with two large bowls, ledges, and step rails that allow skaters to practice all kinds of tricks. As the only skate park of its kind in Cobb County and one of the largest in the Southeast, the park is expected to draw tourists from throughout the region.
